LOL. The tone is totally different. One comes across as....hm, self-absorbed and arrogant and the other comes across as friendly and respectful of my time and trouble.Tarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11015131255166542986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083084222355114149.post-41114568671243779162014-05-19T12:14:23.621-07:002014-05-19T12:14:23.621-07:00Aleathea, my guidelines state that if I'm offe...Aleathea, my guidelines state that if I'm offered a book and I can't possibly take it on, I will indeed offer an interview or guest post...but the key words there is "I was offered".. I am referring to the authors who send me messages like, "My book just released and I'd love to be on your blog. How about you interview me and ask me questions about this, this, and that. Oh, it's on sale on Amazon if you want to read it."

There is a big difference in how these authors present themselves to me. My first thought when an author queries me like that is, "Holy crap. That's two hours of work. And what do I get out of it?"

I'm certainly not making new friends with a person like that. LOL But when authors query me and offer me a title, there's a different tone. I'm not sure this is making any sense. But you are fine, Alethea and you are right, I wouldn't have time to read all these books.
Tarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11015131255166542986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083084222355114149.post-88448747200731650782014-05-19T06:21:20.083-07:002014-05-19T06:21:20.083-07:00Hi, Tara. If I send a request for review and you turn down the request but offer a spotlight or an interview instead, I had no idea you would still be interested in reading the book! I thought a no was a no. I spotlight other authors' work on my blogs simply to help out other writers, get people to visit, and maybe in the process take a glance at the covers of my own books. If I got a copy of each book I spotlighted, I wouldn't have time to get to my own TBR pile and I don't waste much time watching TV either. I very much appreciate the boost and your time, and this insight into why book bloggers blog.Alethea Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11574664007562694183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083084222355114149.post-34268051617616629192014-05-19T04:28:51.167-07:002014-05-19T04:28:51.167-07:00Brilliant review and such great answers guys:) I&#...Brilliant review and such great answers guys:) I'm taking notes!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13642619465646047918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6083084222355114149.post-12987734971319798452014-05-19T03:24:50.798-07:002014-05-19T03:24:50.798-07:00Thanks kindly for having me, Tara! Thanks kindly for having me, Tara!Carlahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17475316937751544459noreply@blogger.com
