Laura DeLuca is Thunderstruck!

I'm flattered, very flattered, to be sharing this post with you today. One of my fellow authors put me in a story!!! And it's a good one! She's not only raising deaf awareness with this story, but she also took it a step further and made me feel like the most beautiful woman on earth when she asked me to pose for her cover. So I'm thrilled to have Laura DeLuca here today to talk about her new release Thunderstruck--thrilled and also blushing. :) Take it, Laura.

"Short stories have never been my forte. Just like in real life, I am a little long-winded. When my publisher announced they were doing an anthology called For the Love of the Gods, I didn’t really plan to participate. Then while I was standing in the shower, I was struck with inspiration. But I can’t take full credit for it and neither can my muse. Thunderstruck only exists because of my friend, editor, and fellow author, Tara Chevrestt. She is not only the person who my main character is based on. She’s also the beautiful model on the cover of the e-book!

It’s no surprise that Tara is an inspiration to many. She is an amazing writer, a no-nonsense editor, and an active feminist. She has a spunk and fire few people can claim and she’s never afraid to tell things how they are. Tara is also deaf, and while she’s faced a lot of discrimination because of her lack of hearing, she’s never let that stop her from getting what she wanted. More importantly, she doesn’t let it stop her from being happy with who she is, imperfections and all. This was the image I wanted to convey when I wrote Thunderstruck. Tara’s colorful vocabulary and the fact that she can kick some serious butt are only a small part of the story. The most important lesson I wanted people to take away with them is that, like Tara, we should all embrace who we are, including the imperfections that make us unique.

Tara’s motto is “Strong is Sexy” and she proves those words every single day. My fictional Tara could never do justice to the real lady, especially not in only thirty-five pages, but it gives you a little piece of the fire that drives a strong woman forward. Get to know Tara and you’ll have no trouble believing she could capture the love of a god.

ThunderstuckBlurb:
Taranis, the Celtic god of Thunder, has spent an eternity longing for the touch of a single mortal woman. He has followed her through incarnations, but always his powers were too much for her to bear.

Tara is a deaf woman, struggling to fit in the hearing world. She hides a gentle heart behind a tough exterior. Will she let down her defenses when a handsome mute tries to win her heart?

And even if she does, can Taranis’ love come without a death sentence?

Hyde Release & Giveaway With Laura DeLuca

Hyde, the final book in the Dark Musicals Trilogy is available now!

Purchase

Rebecca Hope has
looked death in the face twice and lived to tell her tale.
She and the love of her life, Justyn Patko, land a summer
internship at a local dinner theater, performing the musical Hyde. While they
are excited about their first paid acting gig, they soon find themselves
surrounded by more experienced cast mates, jealous of their success. As if the
tension isn’t bad enough, they soon discover that the business might be a front
for something much more sinister
When Justyn is accused of a crime that she knows he would
never commit, Rebecca must decide if she wants to follow her head or her heart.
While trying to prove his innocence, she makes a shocking discovery of her own.
Everyone has something to conceal in the grand finale of the
Dark Musicals Trilogy. Rebecca has to look beyond the façade to discover the
true Hyde or face her final curtain call.

Be sure to add Hyde to your to-read list on Goodreads!

If you haven't read the first two books in the series, now is a great time to
get your copy. To celebrate the release of  Hyde,  Phantom is now on
sale for only $.99 exclusively on Amazon through 7/29!

Purchase

Phantom, Dark Musicals Book #1

The “Phantom” was a musical phenomenon that Rebecca had always found
enchanting. She had no idea that her life was about to mirror the play
that was her obsession. When her high school drama club chooses
“Phantom” as their annual production, Rebecca finds herself in the
middle of an unlikely love triangle and the target of a sadistic stalker
who uses the lines from the play as their calling card.

Rebecca lands the lead role of Christine, the opera diva, and like her
character, she is torn between her two co-stars—Tom the surfer and
basketball star who plays the lovable hero, and Justyn, the strangely
appealing Goth who is more than realistic in the role of the tortured
artist.

Almost immediately after casting, strange things start to happen both on
and off the stage. Curtains fall. Mirrors are shattered. People are
hurt in true phantom style. They all seem like accidents until Rebecca
receives notes and phone calls that hint at something more sinister. Is
Justyn bringing to life the twisted character of the phantom? Or in real
life are the roles of the hero and the villain reversed? Rebecca
doesn’t know who to trust, but she knows she’s running out of time as
she gets closer and closer to opening night. Only when the mask is
stripped away, will the twenty first century phantom finally be
revealed.

Demon, Book Two in the Dark Musicals Trilogy, inspired by Sweeney Todd is also on sale for $1.99 through 7/29!

Purchase

When Justyn and Rebecca set off for the New York School of
Performing Arts, they think their dreams are about to come true. To their
dismay, they aren’t in high school anymore, and the competition is steep.
Rebecca must compete against accomplished singers for a role in the production
of Demon Barber, including a stunning Gothic diva with her sights set on
Justym.
It doesn't help that things keep disappearing from their
apartment or that Rebecca's father refuses to accept that Justyn is an
essential part of her life. Yet, all this seems minimal in comparison to the
serial rapist terrorizing the campus
Consumed by fear and obsessed with revenge, Rebecca and
Justyn start living the story of Sweeney Todd—both on and off the stage.

Stag Hunt by Laura DeLuca

For those of Book Babe's readers who like a strong heroine, look no further. Stag Hunt is here. A quick read/novelette, it's a great pick me up when you need that boost of feminist power. In it, the the heroine not only dresses as a boy, but attempts to take down the legendary and powerful stag. If she succeeds, she'll not only win the princesses's hand in marriage for her brother, but put a stop to an impending war--if she doesn't succeed, YIKES! Folks didn't take too kindly to gals that dressed as lads back then. LOL

In ancient Britannia, the warrior who brought down the king stag was named the defender of the land.

Eartha’s brother Balen has been in love with Princess Galiene since they were children. Upon the death of the High King, the tribesmen of the realm vie for the throne, and with it, the hand of the fair princess.

Balen is desperate to win his lady, but a rival tribesman is equally determined to keep them apart.

With her brother, her dearest friend, and the country she loves all hanging in the balance, Eartha must do the unthinkable to ensure her brother’s victory in the stag hunt. Sometimes true love needs a helping hand...or some blood to be spilled.

Strong is Sexy Heroine of the Week: Rebecca Hope

Book: Demon (Dark Musicals Trilogy, #2)
Author: Laura DeLuca
Heroine: Rebecca Hope

Rebecca Hope is the heroine of the Dark Musicals Trilogy. In Phantom, Rebecca didn’t wait for a man to ride to her rescue. She faced the villain on her own, and used her wits to bring them down. In Demon, the second book in the series, she faces an ordeal that no woman should ever have to deal with. She goes through moments of fear and anger. She pulls away from the people she loves, but in the end, she turns things around. She takes a horrible experience and uses it to make a positive difference in the lives of other women. Like most teenagers, Rebecca is just starting to find herself, and she has moments where she doubts herself. She doesn’t always make the right choices, but when it comes down to it, Rebecca is a strong heroine that I am proud to have created.

When it comes to looks, Rebecca is no supermodel. The story is told through her eyes, and she often considers herself plain, though her love interest certainly doesn’t see her that way. But what makes her sexy has nothing to do with her physical attributes. Lord Justyn fell in love with the artist inside of her, and that beautiful voice is what makes Becca sexy.

Excerpt

Demon (Dark Musicals, #2)As the circle of girls shared their experiences, there were tears—tears of regret, of pain, and of fear. Yet, there were also tales of victory—of overcoming the fear and taking back their lives. When the meeting was over, more than one of the girls came up to Rebecca to thank her for giving them a safe haven—a place to talk without judgment. As she gathered her things and headed to the car where Justyn was waiting, Rebecca realized she had accomplished something great. The man who had attacked her had tried to take away her power, but she had just taken that power back. Even more importantly, she had given that power back to other women as well. Like Darlene had said, everything happens for a reason. For the first time since the attack, Rebecca no longer felt like a victim.

Laura DeLuca's First Sex Scene In A Celtic Tapestry

I was so excited to be invited to join the other fabulous writers in A Celtic Tapestry, but I was also terrified. If you aren’t familiar with my writing, until this short story, I exclusively wrote young adult fiction. That means, I had never written a sex scene. I almost declined the offer because I was so afraid I wouldn’t be able to write a convincing sex scene. I mean, I’ve been writing on and off for twenty years, but never once did I venture into this category. The funny thing was, just before I got the email about this anthology, I had been walking about Walmart with my kids and I suddenly had this vision of the Goddess Brigid giving this black haired writer some interesting inspiration. I was like, whoa, where did that come from? Then I came home to this email from Moon Rose Publishing, and I knew where it came from. It came from Brigid. She was already inspiring me. So I emailed them back and asked if Imbolc was taken. It wasn’t and this was how Brigid’s Flame was born.

The idea was still just a seed and I found myself faced with a dilemma. This story is about my patron Goddess, so it had to be more than just a raunchy sex scene. Yes, I wanted it to be steamy, but it also had to be tasteful. I was excited when I figured out a way to make this a possibility. Next came actually writing out the story. I find it funny that I was giggling like a teenager more while penning this short tale than I ever did while writing my young adult fiction. Yet, when I read back through it, I realized I had done a pretty good job and kept it respectful to the Goddess. There’s even a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming myself until I was writing out the summary. I am really proud of taking this step into the world of adult writing. I don’t know if I’ll ever write a full length romance, but I know now that I can if I want to, and that is a pretty good feeling.

About the book:

Moon Rose Publishing has just released their newest book, A CELTIC TAPESTRY! An anthology between eight authors, each one has taken their own twist on one of the Celtic festivals of the year. Blurb
The wheel of the year turns, bringing the joy of spring, the warmth of summer, the richness of autumn, and the merriment of winter. But eight Celtic festivals link these seasons together, bringing with them romance, lust, danger, and even magic. From a city under threat from night-time creatures at Ostara, to a selkie caught by the light of the Lughnasadh moon, to a writer caught in the flames of a fiery goddess at Imbolc.

Eight authors have come together to give their own twist on these festivals, weaving each story with a blend of myth, magic, and contemporary telling…to create A Celtic Tapestry.

themselves. When Gabriella finally comes face to face with the cousin she never

The Giveaway

To celebrate the release of the new covers, Author Laura DeLuca is giving away a prize pack that includes a oil diffuser, incense and burner, decorative wooden keepsake box, lavender scented drawer liners, a crystal point, stone pendant, and signed copies of Destiny & Destiny Unveiled with the original covers.

Shop is also donating a beautiful altar set inspired by the original

cover of Destiny Unveiled.

The book's cover was recreated on the altar box lid; the design was

first set in pyrography, painted, stain and given a protective coating

of high gloss polycrylic. The flower Celtic knot pentagram is worn by

Gabby and her friends as a symbol of unity and has been pyrographed on

the altar tile. Red paint was floated around the perimeter to

coordinate with the Blood Moon of the cover. A red rose in full bloom

was used on both millefiori* pieces; the censor and charcoal tongs. It

symbolizes the Gabby's destiny being unveiled.

A scene in the

book tells of the young hero doing spell work on the beach using a drift

wood wand to cast a circle and sea shells to form a pentagram. Both of

these have been included as well as censor sand and a roll of charcoal

disks so you can perform your own ritual. Whether you're just starting

to walk the path or have for years, this kit makes an attractive

addition to your ritual tools.
